Springfield, Illinois (October 19, 2021) –

At its 4th Quarter Merit Board Meeting on October 19, 2021, the Illinois State Police Merit Board Members voted unanimously to appoint Ms. Emily E. Fox as the Executive Director of the Illinois State Police Merit Board, effective October 1, 2021.

“Ms. Fox continues to be an incredible asset to our team,” said Board Chairman Andrew Berlin. “Her work ethic, drive for excellence, and determination to move the Merit Board forward while exemplifying the best qualities of a selfless public servant have already proven to have an immediate, positive impact on our Agency and the citizens of Illinois.”

Fox has held several positions at the State Police Merit Board from 2013 to present, including the oversight and implementation of the Cadet Applicant Process, Promotional Process, and Discipline Process for all sworn Illinois State Troopers.  Most recently, in addition to her duties as the Program Director, Fox has also been serving as the Board’s Acting Chief Financial Officer and Personnel Director.  

Ms. Fox brings tremendous experience and expertise of all State Police Merit Board functions which will be invaluable as she officially assumes her new role as the Board’s Executive Director.  Fox is now the first female to serve as Executive Director.  By choosing diversity in leadership, the Merit Board strives for diversity in both ideas and abilities to truly represent the entire State of Illinois.
